Light

Light gin delivers gin character at lower ABV. Anything under the EU minimum of 37.5 percent cannot be sold as gin, so producers label these as gin based spirit or spirit drink. Expect clear juniper but with dialled back heat, bright citrus, light florals, and fresh herb notes sitting at the front. Texture is leaner, the finish is shorter, and the burn stays out of the way. You still get the aroma and the snap, just without the full throttle alcohol.

Reach for light gin when you want the G and T experience without the punch. It shines in long pours with tonic or soda, spritz style serves with citrus, and sessionable classics like a Collins, a Rickey, or a Sling. Balance with plenty of ice and fresh garnish since the spirit is lighter. ABV typically lands in the mid twenties to mid thirties, so check the label and treat it more like a flavourful base than a neutral.
