Fruity

Fruity gin keeps juniper first and puts bright fruit in clear focus. The style grew out of classic London Dry as distillers pushed beyond citrus to include orchard fruit and berries. Flavour is layered by macerating peel and fruit, running separate fruit distillates, or using vapour infusion for lift. The goal is clarity of aroma rather than added sweetness. Fruity gin gives a dry palate with lively fruit on the nose and a clean finish.

Common botanicals include lemon, sweet and bitter orange, grapefruit, bergamot, yuzu, lime, apple peel, pear, blackcurrant leaf, rosehip, sea buckthorn, rowan berry, and raspberry, supported by coriander seed, angelica root, orris root, and light background spice such as cassia and cardamom.
