Panda is a fully organic gin made and bottled in Belgium, and it claims a genuine first: it is built around lychee, with no artificial additives or added sugar anywhere in the process. The brand wears its sustainability lightly but seriously, trimming waste and carbon along the way. The botanical bill is where it gets interesting: rosemary, cherry, orange peel, lychee, basil, juniper and star anise.
The gin is clear in the glass. The nose offers fruit, spice and herbs together, and the palate is floral and softly sweet, the lychee and cherry fruit leading with rosemary and basil giving a savoury lift and star anise a warm undertone. The finish is long. Pour it with a light tonic and a slice of orange or a few lychees, or stir it into a delicate, floral spritz.
