    Rammstein Gin Blueberry

    700 ml / 40%
    New Western

    $56

Dark blueberry and raspberry pour out of this one, fruity and full over a firm juniper base. A collaboration with the German rock band Rammstein, it sets that berry intensity against coriander, angelica and a lift of lemongrass and cardamom. Deep violet in the glass, long and fresh on the finish with a spiced sweetness.

Rammstein Gin Blueberry channels the German band's theatrical intensity into a bottle, distilled in the Netherlands by 1423 ApS. The colour alone makes the point: deep blue and violet, a fascinating visual depth. Underneath the spectacle is a properly built gin, classic botanicals like juniper, coriander seed and angelica root carrying a generous load of blueberry and raspberry, with lemongrass and cardamom adding the spice that keeps it from turning simply sweet.

The nose is fruity blueberry with a delicate citrus freshness and a hint of cardamom. The palate is full-bodied and fruity, intense blueberry and raspberry resting on solid juniper while angelica and lemongrass bring a pleasant spice and surprising depth. The finish is long and fresh, a gentle fruity sweetness rounded by spice. Pour over a quality tonic with a slice of lemon to watch the fruit unfold.
