Description
Part of Redbreast's Dream Cask series, this bottling was distilled at Midleton in 1985 and matured for 38 years before release in 2024, cask 38404, a run of 822 half litre bottles for Ireland. The Dream Cask editions draw the oldest and rarest Redbreast stock. It is a single pot still, malted and unmalted barley triple distilled in East Cork.
The whiskey rested in a second fill bourbon barrel before finishing in an Oloroso sherry butt, the gentler refill wood letting the pot still spirit show its age. Bottled at 45.3%, it carries the tobacco, old oak and dried fruit of a whiskey nearing four decades, the pot still's oily texture softened by long maturation. Bottlings of this age from Midleton are genuinely rare.
