Description
This Redbreast 16 Years Old is a single cask release, distilled at Midleton in 2004 and matured entirely in Oloroso sherry cask number 59815 before bottling in 2021 for the Swedish market. The run was limited to 600 bottles. Redbreast is the flagship single pot still line from the East Cork distillery, built on triple distilled malted and unmalted barley.
Sole maturation in Oloroso gives the whiskey a sherried depth of dried fruit, walnut and dark chocolate, the cask's influence unbroken by any second wood. Bottled at cask strength, 57.9%, it is powerful and oily, the pot still spice cutting through the sweetness. As a single cask it stands as its own snapshot of Midleton's pot still at sixteen years.
