Description
Redbreast 12 Cask Strength bottles the benchmark twelve year old single pot still from Midleton in Co. Cork at full, undiluted strength, released in numbered batches. This is batch B1/24 at 57.5%, put out for the European market in 2024 by Irish Distillers, an unfiltered take on the whiskey that defined the sherried pot still style.
Matured in ex-bourbon barrels with sherry seasoned oak in the house style, it draws honey and vanilla from the American wood against a sherried depth of dried fruit and spice. At cask strength the single pot still character is at its fullest, clove, ginger and black pepper over a rich, oily, Christmas cake texture, powerful neat and rewarding a little water. Triple distilled and unpeated, it is the twelve year old with the volume turned up.
