Description
Redbreast 12 Cask Strength takes the benchmark twelve year old single pot still from Midleton in Co. Cork and bottles it without dilution, batch by batch. This is batch B1/23 at 57.2%, released for the European market in 2023 by Irish Distillers, the higher strength intensifying everything that makes standard Redbreast 12 the reference for the sherried pot still style.
Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels and sherry seasoned oak, it draws honey and vanilla from the American wood and a sherried seam of dried and cooked fruit from the seasoned casks. At full strength the single pot still character is concentrated: clove, ginger and pepper over a creamy, oily texture, with a citrus lift keeping it bright. A little water unlocks a long, spiced, Christmas cake finish. Triple distilled and unpeated.
