Description
Redbreast is the benchmark single pot still range, and this cask strength version of the 12 Years Old, batch B1/22 from 2022, is the undiluted take on the classic. It is made from malted and unmalted barley at the Midleton distillery in Co. Cork and bottled at full strength, 58.1%.
Twelve years in ex-bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry casks build the familiar Redbreast profile, dried fruit, chocolate and a sherried, Christmas cake depth over vanilla and honey. At cask strength the pot still spice and oily texture hit harder, the pepper and clove of the unmalted barley amplified by the full proof. A bolder reading of one of Ireland's most loved whiskeys, best met with a drop of water.
