Description
Batch B1/20 is a 2020 cask strength release of Redbreast 12, the twelve year old single pot still that is the reference point for its style, made at Midleton in Co. Cork by Irish Distillers. Bottled undiluted at 57.6% for the European market, it shows a brighter, fresher side of the range than some batches, the pot still spirit vivid under the sherry.
Ex-bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry casks mature the whiskey together, the American oak giving honey, vanilla and fresh orchard fruit, the sherry a lighter dried fruit accent this time. A green, glasshouse freshness and citrus lift keep it lively, with a note of fresh oak spice. Undiluted, the single pot still frame of clove, ginger and pepper is concentrated and oily, long and gently sweet on the finish. Triple distilled and unpeated.
