Description
Batch B1/17 is a 2017 release of Redbreast 12 Cask Strength, the undiluted version of the benchmark twelve year old single pot still from Midleton in Co. Cork. Bottled at 58.2% for the Dutch market by Irish Distillers, this earlier batch runs to the darker, more sherried end of the range, the full strength drawing out every bit of the whiskey's depth.
Matured in ex-bourbon barrels with sherry seasoned oak, it leans sherried and rich, with dried fruit, dark chocolate and a leathery, tobacco note over honey and vanilla. Citrus keeps a thread of brightness through the weight. At 58.2% the single pot still character is concentrated, clove, ginger and pepper on an oily, Christmas cake texture, long and warming, opening further with a drop of water. Triple distilled and unpeated.
