Description
Redbreast 12 Years Old is the benchmark single pot still whiskey from Midleton in Co. Cork, made by Irish Distillers and here bottled for the Portuguese market through the agents Edward Dillon and Co. The twelve year age statement and the traditional 40% strength mark it as the classic house expression, the whiskey that carried the pot still style through decades when few others made it.
Maturation in ex-bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry casks gives the range its signature balance, vanilla and honey from the American oak, dried and cooked fruit from the sherry. Fresh orchard fruit, malt and a light tobacco leaf note sit over the pot still frame of clove, ginger and pepper, with the creamy, oily texture that defines Redbreast. Triple distilled and unpeated, it is a full, sherried, everyday pot still of real depth.
