Redbreast is the benchmark single pot still range from Midleton in Co. Cork, and this ten year old Distillery Edition is a younger, more accessible expression made for sale at the home of Irish Distillers. Released around 2023 for the Irish market at 43%, it brings the full, sherried Redbreast style at a lower age than the famous twelve, with a slightly different cask recipe.
Maturation combines ex-bourbon barrels, Pedro Ximenez sherry casks and a portion of virgin oak, a mix that layers vanilla and fresh oak spice over the sweet, raisined depth of PX. Cooked orchard fruit, honey and a note of old wood sit on the classic pot still frame of clove, ginger and pepper, with the oily, creamy texture that defines the range. Triple distilled and unpeated, it is a rounded, sherry sweet introduction to Redbreast.
