This Drumshanbo single pot still was matured in Tawny Port casks by The Shed distillery in Co. Leitrim, PJ Rigney's Leitrim site opened in 2014. A NAS release bottled in 2024 for Europe, it rests on the distillery's heritage mash of malted and unmalted barley with oats.
Tawny Port seasoning brings red fruit, a nutty, raisined sweetness and a warm oxidative note over the pot still core of green apple and baking spice. Triple distilled and bottled at 43%, the wine cask rounds the spirit while the peppery, oily texture of Irish pot still stays in view.
