Description
Samhain, the ancient festival behind Halloween, launched Dingle's Wheel of the Year series in 2022, a run of cask strength releases pegged to the old Celtic calendar, each entry pairing a festival with its own cask recipe. This is a triple distilled single malt from the Co. Kerry distillery, released in an edition of 10,000 bottles.
First fill bourbon casks provide the base before a full two years in first fill Muscatel casks, an unusually long finish that folds honey, nuts and chocolate into the fresh orchard fruit of the house spirit. Bottled undiluted at 50.5%, it balances that autumnal sweetness with citrus and a clean malt extract core, the softness of Atlantic maturation on the Dingle peninsula showing through at full strength.
