Description
Lá 'le Bríde, St Brigid's Day on the first of February, opens the Celtic spring, and Dingle marked it in 2023 with this Wheel of the Year single malt, one of 10,000 cask strength bottles from the Co. Kerry distillery. Like the rest of the series it ties an old Irish festival to a particular cask experiment.
The triple distilled malt spends its primary maturation in ex-bourbon casks before a finishing spell in rye whiskey barrels. The rye wood brings white pepper and fresh sawn oak to lemon zest and crisp green fruit, and at an undiluted 50.5% the whiskey stays bright and firm rather than heavy, in keeping with Dingle's fruit forward house character and its maritime maturation on the peninsula.
