Description
The summer solstice entry in Dingle's Wheel of the Year series, Grianstad an tSamhraidh is a single pot still whiskey, triple distilled in Co. Kerry from a mash of malted and unmalted barley. Released in 2024 in an edition of 9,000 bottles, it continues the series' habit of tying the old Celtic calendar to a distinct cask recipe.
Ex-bourbon casks handle the bulk of maturation with ex-rye barrels alongside, the rye wood sharpening the pot still pepper with extra spice and fresh oak. Dark chocolate, citrus and crisp orchard fruit lead the palate, and the undiluted 52.5% bottling strength keeps the oily, waxy pot still texture intact, with the mild Atlantic climate of the Dingle peninsula rounding the edges.
