Description
Yoichi Single Malt is the core no age statement release from Nikka's Yoichi distillery on the Sea of Japan coast of Hokkaido, owned by Asahi. This 500ml, 43% bottling was produced for the German market and represents a smaller-format, slightly lower-strength edition of the standard Yoichi NAS, sharing the same Ex-Bourbon matured spirit.
The typical Yoichi house profile at this weight is built around firm malt, vanilla and light peat smoke, shaped by the distillery's coal-fired direct distillation, a production method now rare even in Scotland. The Hokkaido maritime climate adds a coastal salinity and cool-air restraint that keeps the spirit focused. At 43%, it is a gentle and well-balanced introduction to one of Japan's most distinctively Scottish-influenced malt distilleries.
