Yoichi 20 Years Old 1987 is a single malt from Nikka's Yoichi distillery in Hokkaido, distilled in 1987 and bottled in 2007 after 20 years of maturation. Released to the Netherlands market at cask strength, it belongs to the generation of long-aged Yoichi expressions that introduced the distillery's extended-maturation character to European audiences in the mid-2000s.
Two decades in Ex-Bourbon casks in Hokkaido's cold, maritime environment build a deeply integrated profile: the coal-fired peat and oily new make character mellows toward baked orchard fruit, dried fig and leather, with warm wood spice and vanilla from the long bourbon barrel contact. At 55%, the result is a rich, layered single malt that shows what Yoichi becomes with patience and extended cask time.
