Description
This 25 Years Old Yamazaki is the long aged peak of Suntory's Osaka Prefecture distillery, the first malt site in Japan, set in the soft humidity of the Shimamoto valley between Osaka and Kyoto. Released for travel retail, it crowns the core range above the 12 and 18, a quarter century of maturation in a climate suited to patient ageing.
Maturation took place in Ex-Bourbon American oak, the wood that lets Yamazaki's orchard fruit and sweetness lead. Across twenty five years that barrel builds honey and mellow vanilla, dried orchard fruit and a soft oak spice, with the long maturation deepening rather than darkening the spirit. Rounded and gentle at 43%, it shows the elegant, fruit forward face of the house carried to a great age in American oak.
