Description
Yamazaki 12 Years Old, the flagship aged expression from Japan's first malt whisky distillery, founded by Suntory in 1923 in the Shimamoto valley of Osaka Prefecture where the Katsura, Uji and Kizu rivers meet. This Japanese market bottling is the whisky that established the distillery as a benchmark single malt at home and abroad, presented at the house standard 43% in a 750ml format.
Twelve years of maturation across the distillery's mix of oak builds a layered, fragrant profile. Expect chocolate and citrus with cooked and dried fruit over the orchard fruit and hay like freshness of the house, lightly spiced by the wood. At 43% it is soft and rounded, the long ageing giving depth, harmony and a gentle, balanced finish. It remains the defining statement of the Yamazaki style and a cornerstone of Japanese single malt.
