Description
Writers' Tears is Walsh Whiskey's signature marriage of single pot still and single malt, a blend that carries no grain whiskey at all. Bottled at the family's Royal Oak home in Co. Carlow, this 2023 cask strength edition is a limited run of 6050 bottles, released at full strength rather than the usual house pour.
Maturation in American oak ex bourbon barrels gives the vanilla and honey backbone, while the pot still portion adds the gentle spice and oily weight that sets the style apart, with cooked and dried fruit deepening the finish. At 54.8% and undiluted, it is a fuller, firmer take on Writers' Tears, the pot still character showing more clearly without water to soften it.
