Description
Bottled in 2015, this is an early entry in Walsh Whiskey's annual Cask Strength series and was released for the German market in a run of 2,100 bottles. It follows the Writers' Tears formula, a marriage of single pot still and single malt whiskey with no grain, and carries no age statement.
Maturation in American oak barrels shows in the honeyed sweetness and the note of fresh, resinous oak. At 53% and undiluted the whiskey is full bodied, malty and warming, the pot still share adding a dry pepper that keeps the sweetness in check. Water rounds the oak and coaxes out orchard fruit.
