A high ester Jamaican white from Worthy Park, made entirely on a pot still and unsweetened at a forceful 63%, packed with banana, tropical fruit, glue and grassy funk, built as a powerful mixer that some enjoy neat with care.
Description
Worthy Park Rum-Bar White Overproof is unaged pot still Jamaican rum at overproof strength, the kind of high ester white that drives the island's funk into a cocktail. Distilled entirely on a pot still at the single estate, it shows Worthy Park's fruit forward character turned loud and clear.
At 63% and unsweetened, it hits hard with banana, tropical fruit, ripe ester funk and a glue like solvent lift, finishing vegetal, estery and faintly bitter. Those solvent and overripe fruit notes are a feature of the high ester style, the positive side of Jamaican funk rather than a flaw. It is built first as a powerful mixer, where a measure adds a bright, fruity, slightly vegetal accent, though some find it surprisingly sippable when brought down with water. A punchy, characterful white for drinkers who enjoy Rum Fire or Wray and Nephew and want a banana driven Worthy Park twist.
