Description
Whobertus is made at altitude, some 1,200 metres up in the Berchtesgaden National Park, where a handful of Bavaria's oldest mountain distilleries still work the old way. Distillation happens in a hand-forged still over a wood fire, far from anything modern, drawing on twelve botanicals and the intensely mineral-rich water of the surrounding springs. Each bottle reads as a distillate of its place: high, clean and unhurried.
The nose is mild and pure, all gentle juniper. The palate turns delicately spicy, fresh citrus brightening the gently tart, earthy notes of angelica and orris root, with lavender threading softly through. The finish settles long and calm. Keep it simple in a G&T with a light tonic and a twist of lemon, letting that mountain-water clarity come forward.
