A 32 Year Old Port Mourant from 1975, Port-finished at 56.9%, a dense old-wood bruiser of dark fruit, leather, tobacco and bitter molasses with an oily texture and an endless finish.
Description
Whisky Kruger bottled this 1975 Port Mourant as a Rendsburg release, drawing on the double wooden pot still that produces the heaviest, most pungent Guyanese rum. Thirty-two years in cask and a full 56.9% make this a deep, old-school expression of one of rum's most legendary stills.
Distilled from molasses on the greenheart pot still and finished in Port casks, it pours very dark and drinks dense: leather, prune, roasted notes and dried fruit on the nose, then leather, tobacco, wood and dark chocolate on an oily, intense palate, finishing on wood, dark chocolate and a bitter, creamy edge that lingers and lingers. The combination of great age, varnished old wood and that unmistakable Port Mourant weight makes this a brooding, contemplative pour for experienced drinkers who want the seventies profile at its most intense.
