Description
This single malt comes from West Cork Distillers in Skibbereen, Co. Cork, the fully independent site that has made its own malt and grain since 2003. Bottled at 46% in the Maritime range, it leans on a port cask finish using wood from Quinta da Boeira, a producer in the Douro.
The port casks push red berry and dried fruit into the whiskey, with honey and a touch of fresh oak from West Cork's own bourbon maturation underneath. The spirit stays malty and rounded, and the higher 46% strength gives the fruit more grip than the standard bottlings. It was released for the European market without an age statement.
