Description
Bottled in 2019, this is an earlier release of West Cork Distillers' stout cask blend, made at the company's own site in Skibbereen, Co. Cork. It marries grain and pot still whiskey and takes its finishing wood from Black's of Kinsale, a brewery just along the West Cork coast.
After ageing in ex-bourbon barrels the blend spends time in casks that held Black's stout, drawing roasted grain and a faint cocoa edge over the whiskey's brighter citrus and vanilla. The result stays light and approachable at 40%, with a dry, husky cereal character running underneath. It was released for the European market.
