Description
This is a Scotch Malt Whisky Society bottling of West Cork single malt, coded 150.1 under the Society's numbering, where 150 is its designation for the Skibbereen distillery in Co. Cork. Distilled in 2013 and bottled in 2020 at seven years old, it was a single cask release of 252 bottles for the French market.
The whiskey matures in ex-bourbon before a finish in a first fill barrel that previously held rye, a cask that brings extra baking spice and a peppery, grainy edge to West Cork's own malt. Bottled undiluted at 58.7%, it is a powerful, spirit forward dram, the Society's poetic cask name aside, showing the young Cork malt at full cask strength.
