Description
Bottled by Velier, the most prestigious name in collectible rum, this is an eight year old Hampden distilled in 2017 from the H marque, one of the Trelawny estate's fruitier high ester recipes. It is a pure pot still molasses rum, full proof and additive free in the house tradition, capturing Hampden's signature funk in vivid form.
Matured in ex-bourbon and bottled at 60 percent, it leans hard into fruit, banana split, pineapple, passion fruit and overripe tropical notes carried by the estate's natural ester sweetness. The palate stays fruity and intense, with enough balance to keep it from tipping over, and a warm, banana laced finish. The sugar content is not stated, though Velier's Hampdens are unsweetened by practice. A bright, funky Jamaican for high ester fans, best neat or with a splash of water.
