Description
The Spirit of Art 2024 Trinidad 14 Year Old is a single cask rum distilled at Trinidad Distillers Limited and bottled by Valinch & Mallet. Produced from molasses and distilled on column stills, the rum was laid down in 2009 and matured for fourteen years in oak using Valinch & Mallet’s established hybrid ageing approach.
The first five years of maturation took place in the tropical climate of Trinidad, allowing for early concentration and structure. The cask was then transferred to Europe, where the remainder of the ageing occurred under cooler continental conditions, slowing extraction and promoting a more controlled development over time. This hybrid ageing model is a recurring feature of Valinch & Mallet bottlings and is used to balance intensity with precision.
Bottled brut de fût at 51.3 percent ABV, the rum is presented without dilution, preserving its natural weight and texture. The style reflects traditional Trinidad rum character, favouring a clean distillate profile, restrained sweetness, and measured oak influence rather than high ester intensity or heavy pot still weight.
This release forms part of Valinch & Mallet’s Spirit of Art series. The label artwork was created by Italian artist Luca Coser. With an outturn of approximately 330 bottles, this is a limited single cask release aimed at drinkers and collectors looking for a clearly defined Trinidad rum, bottled with minimal intervention and clear provenance.
