Description
The Tyrconnell range is the unpeated face of Cooley in Co. Louth, double distilled rather than triple in a nod to founder John Teeling's determination to do things differently, and its 10 Years Old wine finishes are among the best known cask finished Irish malts. This European market bottling carries Port Cask on the label, marking it out within the finish trio alongside the Madeira and Sherry editions.
Ten years in ex-bourbon barrels build the malt's fragrant base before Port pipes contribute cooked and dried fruit, old wood and a toasted, malt extract richness. At 46% it drinks with real texture, red fruited and autumnal, the ruby wine sweetness settling comfortably over Tyrconnell's orchard fruit core.
