Description
Cooley in Co. Louth revived the Tyrconnell name from a celebrated Watt distillery label, and its 10 Years Old finish series became a fixture of the modern Irish shelf. This is the Port cask finished edition as bottled in 2013 for Europe, a snapshot of the range in the years just after Cooley passed into Beam ownership.
The single malt spends ten years in ex-bourbon wood before finishing in Port casks, which push jammy cooked fruit and a winey depth through the double distilled spirit. Bottled at 46%, it pairs that vinous warmth with the honeyed malt and orchard fruit typical of the house, a generous example of the wine finished Tyrconnell style.
