Description
The Blender's Cut is Two Stacks working without a safety net, a cask strength blend built from stock distilled at The Great Northern Distillery in Dundalk, Co. Louth. This 2020 batch appeared with the Killowen name on the label, marking the Co. Down site involved in its assembly, and ran to just 222 bottles for the German market, the sort of tiny bonded release on which Ireland's whiskey revival was originally built.
Three cask types shape it: virgin oak for fresh sawn spice and sweetness, Ex-Bourbon for vanilla and toffee, and Ex-Oloroso sherry for dried fig and walnut depth. At a full 64% it arrives dense and warming, the young Great Northern spirit carrying the wood boldly, and it takes water well, softening into baked orchard fruit and barley sugar.
