Description
One of the fruit brandy experiments in The Blender's Cut series from Two Stacks, bottled in 2022 in a run of 318 bottles for Europe. The base is the bonder's usual cask strength blend of whiskey from The Great Northern Distillery in Dundalk, Co. Louth, matured across virgin oak, Ex-Bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, here given a finishing turn in apricot brandy wood.
The apricot casks lend ripe stone fruit and a honeyed, jammy warmth that sits naturally on the blend's vanilla, fig and fresh oak spine. At 63.2% it delivers considerable heat up front, then relaxes with water into apricot preserve, toasted oak and a long barley sweet finish, a summery slant on a normally burly blend.
