Description
A fruit finished variation on The Blender's Cut, the cask strength blend from Newry bonder Two Stacks, released in 2023 in a run of 282 bottles for the Netherlands. The whiskey comes from The Great Northern Distillery in Dundalk, Co. Louth, and follows the house recipe of virgin oak, Ex-Bourbon and Oloroso sherry maturation before the wildcard: a finish in pineapple brandy casks.
The brandy wood threads bright tropical fruit and a syrupy sweetness through the blend's toffee, vanilla and dried fig base, an unlikely pairing that reads more balanced in the glass than on paper. Bottled at 62.5% without dilution, it opens hot and exuberant, and softens with water into grilled pineapple, oak spice and barley sweetness.
