Description
Two Stacks works out of Newry in Co. Down as a blending and bonding house, and its Smoke & Mirrors releases pair smoky Great Northern single malt with barrel projects from Dot Brew in Dublin. This edition took a Dot Brew imperial stout cask that had itself been seasoned with Pedro Ximénez sherry, and was bottled at Killowen Distillery, 318 bottles for the Netherlands.
The malt, distilled at the Great Northern in Dundalk, Co. Louth, starts in ex-bourbon oak before the stout wood piles on dark chocolate, espresso roast and PX raisin, with soft peat smoke running underneath. Bottled at a cask strength of 56% with no age statement, it lets the cask do the talking.
