Description
This is the Irish market bottling of the Two Stacks Double Barrel Single Malt, the Newry bonder's flagship malt, distilled at The Great Northern Distillery in Dundalk, Co. Louth. Great Northern was founded by John Teeling in 2015 to supply the industry at scale, and honest bottlings like this one show its malt under the bonder's own colours rather than hidden in someone else's blend.
The whiskey runs through two casks, Ex-Bourbon for vanilla, honey and orchard fruit, then Oloroso sherry for raisin, walnut and a deeper amber sweetness. Bottled at 43%, it is a balanced, sessionable single malt with a creamy middle and a lightly spiced finish, made to be poured generously rather than rationed.
