Twelve Whisky d’Aubrac blends Reunion and Jamaica rum at a high 62%, finished in Pineau des Charentes, a fruity, structured pour of green apple, banana and peach with light esters and a long, spicy, vanilla close.
Description
This release from Twelve Whisky d'Aubrac pairs Reunion island rum with Jamaica, finishing the high-proof blend in Pineau des Charentes casks and bottling it at a hefty 62%. The combination sets agricole-leaning Reunion character against Jamaican esters, with the sweet-wine finish lending a fruity polish.
The two origins are well matched, neither one taking over. The nose is fruity and herbal with banana, apple and peach, the palate brings banana, vanilla, varnish and pepper, and the finish carries vanilla, citrus and banana with a spicy edge. Light esters lift it throughout and the Pineau adds a rounded, fruity sweetness without tipping into sugar territory. Despite sitting over 60%, it stays balanced and controlled with a long finish. It is a rewarding, fruity high-proof blend for drinkers who like structured, ester-touched rum, a fine festive pour rather than an everyday one.
