Description
This rum cask finish takes the standard Tullamore D.E.W. triple blend and gives it a second life in casks that once held rum. Distilled at the modern Offaly distillery, where pot still, malt and grain are triple distilled together, it is a 2024 release built around cask finishing rather than age. The extra wood work is the whole point.
Time in rum casks pushes a warm, molasses tinged sweetness into the spirit, drawing honey and vanilla forward and rounding off the finish with a soft, sugary depth. Bottled at 43%, slightly above the original strength, it keeps the gentle, approachable Tullamore character while adding a layer of richness. An easygoing whiskey that wears its rum influence lightly.
