Description
This 14 Years Old is the single malt in the Tullamore D.E.W. family, all malted barley and triple distilled, a departure from the brand's better known three way blends. It is bottled at 41.3% for the European market and named for the four cask maturation that defines it.
The malt ages in ex-bourbon barrels before finishing across three fortified wine woods, Oloroso sherry, Port and Madeira, each adding a layer, dried fruit and chocolate from the sherry, red fruit from the Port, a nutty sweetness from the Madeira. Over it all sits the fresh orchard fruit, vanilla and malt of an Irish single malt, kept light by the triple distillation. A layered, wine influenced malt with plenty going on.
