A Tormore single malt, selected and bottled by Douglas Laing matured to 30 year old from 1992, drawn from cask DL 17247 and bottled at 41.6%. Only 276 bottles were released. Tormore was founded in 1958 in Speyside, near the Cairngorms; it is a listed building, the white cathedral of Speyside. Water comes from the Achvochkie Burn, flowing off the granite hills above.

Distilled on soft Speyside water through purifier stills, building the firm, clean Tormore style. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, gentle American oak beneath the fruit. At this great age the malt is full and waxy, the nut deep and the oak polished. Soft water off the granite hills gives a clean, ester driven make. The new owners released a Blueprint Series of 10 year olds in 2025 ahead of a full range. Its rise in 1958 broke a long pause in distillery building that had lasted decades. The architect Sir Albert Richardson gave it a grand, ornamental design unlike any other distillery.

At a hearty 41.6% it carries real weight. Apple, citrus and a soft almond meet honeyed oak sweetness underneath. Soft orchard fruit and nut sit behind the sweetness. Green apple and almond draw out the close. This is a clean, citrussy Speyside single malt.
