Topanito Añejo is a Blue Weber tequila produced at Casa Maestri in the town of Tequila, in the Jalisco lowlands. Aged more than twelve months in barrels that previously held American Tennessee whiskey, it joins a traditional agave base to layered cask notes, with a profile that leans toward richness and depth for drinkers who want more wood in the glass. The line also includes a stronger Blanco aimed at cocktails.
Production starts with slow cooking of the agave hearts in brick ovens, followed by fermentation with natural yeast cultures and a gentle double distillation in copper pot stills. The cask work brings oak, vanilla and a honeyed sweetness over the agave, the fruit staying juicy underneath while the texture turns weightier, edging at times toward a grappa-like character. Bottled at 40%.
