Description
Poitin is Ireland's old farmhouse spirit, distilled from barley and traditionally bottled clear and unaged, and Tipperary Boutique makes its version at the Ahern family farm in Co. Tipperary. This release is a spirit rather than a whiskey, drawn from a tiny run of 66 bottles in 2025 and given brief time in an Irish apple brandy cask.
The cask is the twist here, an Irish apple brandy barrel that lends a soft orchard fruit note over the raw grain and creamy texture poitin is known for. Bottled at a robust 59%, it keeps the green, spirituous bite of the style, warming and unpolished, closer to the pot still tradition that predates aged Irish whiskey than to anything shaped by long years in wood.
