Description
Thomond Gate bottled this single cask, PL-002 UA, in 2022 to raise funds for Ukraine, a run of just 160 bottles for the Irish market. The whiskey is single pot still from the Great Northern Distillery in Dundalk, Co. Louth, given an unusually layered cask journey by the Limerick bonder.
Ex-Cognac and ex-bourbon casks set down dried grape, vanilla and orchard fruit before an imperial stout finish added dark chocolate, roast and a damp, mossy earthiness that gives it real character. Bottled at a cask strength of 53.28%, it pairs the pot still spice and oily texture of the Dundalk spirit with a generous cause.
