Description
A Whistler blend from Boann Distillery in Drogheda, Co. Meath, marrying sourced Irish malt and grain in the bonder tradition the Cooney family built the label on, and an accessible expression of the house's cask led approach. After maturation in Ex-Bourbon casks, the whiskey took a finish in French Calvados casks and was bottled in 2023 at 43% for the European market.
Calvados wood is a natural partner for Irish whiskey, doubling down on its orchard fruit, and here baked apple and pear skin settle over the toffee, banana and gentle sweetness of the grain component. The malt adds honey and biscuit through the middle, and the finish is soft and warming, apple brandy, vanilla and a light oak spice.
