Description
The Whistler is the sherry led house brand of Boann Distillery in Drogheda, Co. Meath, built by the Cooney family and run on Bodega casks seasoned to their specification in Jerez. This Bodega Cask BoD edition is a 5 Years Old single malt drawn for the European market and bottled in 2022, a snapshot of the line's core idea, young fruit driven Irish malt given a full sherry upbringing.
Maturation in an Oloroso sherry butt brings dried fig, raisin and walnut to the malt's orchard fruit and honey, with toasted bread and a gentle clove warmth behind. Bottled at 46% without chill filtration, it keeps enough weight to carry the butt's darker notes, finishing on orange peel, date and lightly drying oak.
