Description
Bottled for the Netherlands in 2022, this 14 Years Old entry in the Whistler Single Cask Series is sourced Irish single malt finished and bottled by Boann in Drogheda, Co. Meath. It spent most of its life in Ex-Bourbon barrels before moving to a Ruby Port cask, number 1607, which gave 306 bottles at its natural strength of 54.55%.
Ruby Port wood is the brighter of the Port styles and it shows, red berries, plum and a floral, fragrant lift settling over fourteen years of vanilla and honeyed oak. The malt stays composed underneath, biscuit and orchard fruit through the middle, and the cask strength finish is generous, raspberry jam, white pepper and a slow, drying oak fade.
