A clean, value-driven 10 Year Old Worthy Park from The Whisky Jury, ripe banana, tropical fruit and coconut over light wood spice, distilled on the single-estate pot still and bottled unsweetened at cask strength, 56.7%.
Description
This 10 Year Old single cask comes from Worthy Park, the St. Catherine estate that distils 100% on its modern pot still and builds esters through fermentation alone, selected by Belgian bottler The Whisky Jury. Distilled from molasses in 2015 and matured in ex-bourbon, it shows the house at its clean, precise best, the funk present but well behind the fruit, bottled at cask strength.
The nose is fruity and estery with ripe banana and vanilla, the palate brings banana, tropical fruit, coconut and ester, and the finish runs salty and woody with more banana and spice. Unsweetened and bottled at 56.7%, it pushes intensity and dryness a touch further than the estate norm while staying accessible, with notable clarity and balance for the strength. This is a fine neat pour and strong value for a cask-strength single cask, a clean entry into serious Worthy Park.
