Description
A distillery release of Glendullan, cask Batch MR/15/SR, at 40%. Glendullan is a fresh, grassy Speyside malt of orchard fruit and a malty sweetness. Since 2007 its single malt has been bottled as the Singleton of Glendullan, aimed at the United States. It was the last of the Dufftown stills, the town said to stand on seven stills as Rome stands on seven hills. Its water rises at the Goats Well spring in the Conval Hills above the distillery.
Run slowly off the spirit still, for a clean, grassy make with a fruity lift. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, the American oak lending vanilla and a light honey. Carrying no age, soft vanillin and orchard fruit suggest a fair spell in oak. Years in oak deepen the spirit to gold, the body growing rounder with time. Maturation runs slow and even in the warehouses at Dufftown. A light, clean texture from the spirit carries through the maturation.
At an approachable 40% it is fresh and clean. A fresh, fruity malt with a green edge, lifted by a soft oak. Soft pear and a light vanilla sit behind the cask. The finish runs fresh, grassy and clean. This is a Speyside single malt of easy charm.
